ICE took a man in Aurora today. The individual, who reportedly has serious mental health challenges, was initially taken into custody by the Aurora Police Department for a non-violent offense. According to the family, upon his release from police custody, ICE took him into their custody at or near the police department.
Responding officers reported seeing a document presented by ICE, though it has not been confirmed whether it was a valid judicial warrant.
We urge caution, but we do not believe there is any immediate threat to Aurora at this time. As always, we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
